It's not often that I give a product 5-stars, but this one is well deserving...almost mandatory. The Apple iPad gets awesome battery life all by itself and this sleeve/power source adds even more; in fact approx 5-7 hours more. It's hard to tell really because the power meter in the upper right never drops under 100%.
For every pro, there must be a con and this is no exception. The weight! This thing will add some heftiness to your sleek & slim iPad bringing the total package closer to a netbook portable experience. With the iPad in the Kensington PowerBack it is not possible to dock in the iPad dock or keyboard dock either.
The included micro-USB cable is a little bit longer than the OEM Apple iPad sync/charge cable. The iPad can sync/charge while remaining in the Kensington PowerBack. The kensington micro-USB allows immediate iTunes recognition w/o any problems.
While I do miss the over-flap protection that was provided by the Apple OEM iPad case (this Kensington PowerBack exposes the screen to the elements & hazards)...the obvious solution for 24/7 protection was a generic 10" netbook neoprene sleeve. To reiterate the point, getting closer to the bulk & weight of netbooks.
Still, if long and sustainable life juice is priority #1 and you're willing to trade-off the bulk/weight as well as the front face protection...then this is a good buy!
